CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) measures how much the page "jumps" during loading — when an image loads and shifts text, or when an ad banner appears and pushes content down. It's a score (0 = no shift, > 0.25 = very unstable). Google thresholds: < 0.1 = excellent, 0.1–0.25 = needs improvement, > 0.25 = poor.
Real-world impact of "CLS — Cumulative Layout Shift"
A high CLS is a frustrating experience: you're reading an article and the text suddenly jumps, or you try to click a link but the button moved and you click something else. It's a Google ranking criterion and one of the easiest to fix (add width/height to images).
